Eyeball checks your Plex server from outside your home every minute. When it stops answering, you hear first, your users get a status page, and your AI assistant can tell you exactly what happened.

What does this mean?

Plex gives us a token so we can see where your servers are. That token is allowed to do more than look up an address. Keeping it means you trust us with it. We never see your password. Some people would rather we not keep it. This is for them.

That's fine. Eyeball still watches your servers, and we never see your password. If your home internet moves, you may get an alert. Sign in once more and Eyeball picks up the new address.

The token is allowed to do more than look up an address. We use it to find your servers, then we delete our copy and ask Plex to deactivate the Eyeball device. Open Authorized Devices in Plex. Eyeball should be gone. If it is still listed, remove it there.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Monitoring, alerts, and the status page are free. If paid extras ever show up, they will be extras, like more servers. What you sign up for today stays free.

Do I have to install anything?

No. Eyeball checks your server from the internet, the same way your users' apps connect. Nothing runs on your server.

What can Eyeball see?

Whether your server answers, and how fast. It can't see your library or what anyone is watching.

Is my Plex account safe?

Sign-in uses Plex's own consent flow, so Eyeball never sees your password. Plex hands over a token that shows where your servers are. That token is allowed to do more than look up an address, so keeping it is a trust call. By default Eyeball keeps it, so it can follow your server if your home address changes. Tick Forget the Plex token after setup if you would rather it didn't, then check Authorized Devices in Plex. The details are at what Eyeball can see.

Which AI assistants work with it?

Any assistant that can add an MCP server with a token. Grok, Claude Code, and Cursor are tested. In the Claude web app, add it as a custom connector and paste the token under Request headers, if your account shows that option. Setup takes three steps.

Is this just for Plex?

For now, yes. Plex first, done well. Jellyfin, Emby, and websites are next.

My remote access is already broken. Can you help?

There are plain-English guides for turning on Remote Access, port forwarding, and the other usual causes. Once you sign in, Eyeball shows which problem your server has, as seen from the internet.
